It’s a curious thing when you’ve spent years striving to achieve beautiful, symmetrical drums and one comes along that insists on assymetry!

This drum was born yesterday, reindeer hide on a 14inch ash frame with a brass hoop wrapped first in black ribbon, then overlain with green ribbon. She began looking symmetrical but quickly started to ask for an off-centre hoop and has finished quite markedly asymmetrical – but with a beautiful voice already!
She’s drying quietly now but in a few weeks she’ll be painted with a sunburst design – offcentre to match her design.
